Couple of interesting notes here:1. This game served as one of the rare moments during the 1990s in which the home team wore their dark uniforms. The NBA was celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 1996-97 season and as part of that celebration, some teams wore throwback jerseys for select games. While some teams had worn throwbacks on isolated occasions in previous seasons, the 1996-97 campaign was the first in which there was a league-wide throwback initiative.
2. Kemp came off the bench for this one. He had season-long issues with the front office, typically stemming from the fact that Jim McIlvaine landed a monster free-agent deal with the team that surpassed Kemp's own value. This did not sit well with Mr. Kemp. McIlvaine averaged 3.5 points and 1.9 blocks in two seasons with the club.
3. This particular play went into the books as both a block and rebound. Terry Cummings converted a jumper 10 seconds later to push the Sonics' lead to 30 (94-64).
