Washington asegura que ha destruido la marina, la fuerza aérea y la industria militar de Irán. Mientras tanto, Estados Unidos envía un tercer portaaviones y hasta 10.000 soldados más a Oriente Medio, y la Casa Blanca sopesa volver a bombardear Irán después de las elecciones de mitad de mandato.
