Rescue Your Overexposed Photos with This Technique

In this Photoshop tutorial I'll show you a clever trick to replace an overexposed sky and color match it to your subject — without any complex masking. That's right — no pen tool, no Select and Sky, no hair masking headaches. Just a smart use of blend modes and channels that gets you a seamless, natural-looking result in minutes. You'll learn how to blend a new sky using the Multiply blend mode to instantly replace a blown-out background, how to use the Clone Stamp to clean up unwanted elements, and how to create a smooth transition between your subject and the new sky using nothing more than a Gradient tool and a soft brush.
The real magic happens in the color matching section — where I'll show you how to work directly in the Channels panel and use Levels on each individual channel — Red, Green and Blue — to match the color tone of your subject to the new sky. No guessing, no trial and error. Just a clean, methodical approach that actually works.
To finish, we'll brighten skin tones with Curves and a painted layer mask, add a warm sun glow light effect using the Screen blend mode, and run everything through Camera Raw for the final touches — Clarity, HSL, Vignetting and a Radial Gradient to draw light back onto the face.
