«Eh no, non parlo solo inglese e spagnolo. So parlare anche una lingua un po' più cruda e più diretta». Con queste parole il sindaco di Matera, Antonio Nicoletti, esponente del centrodestra, spiega i torni del suo intervento alla Festa dello Studente, svoltasi il 9 giugno. Un discorso pronunciato dal palco allestito nell'area del Castello Tramontano davanti a migliaia di ragazzi e caratterizzato da un linguaggio insolito per un rappresentante delle istituzioni: diretto, informale e accompagnato da diverse parolacce, utilizzate evidentemente per richiamare l'attenzione del pubblico.L'episodio risale alla serata conclusiva della tradizionale manifestazione organizzata dagli studenti per celebrare la fine dell'anno scolastico. Sul palco, mentre la festa è ancora nel pieno dell'entusiasmo, il primo cittadino prende il microfono e sceglie di rivolgersi ai giovani con un registro lontano dai discorsi ufficiali.
