Vor zehn Jahren prägte Angela Merkel mit ihrem Satz »Wir schaffen das« die deutsche Flüchtlingspolitik. Doch was ist aus diesem Versprechen geworden? Die Fluchtkrise hat nicht nur das politische Klima in Deutschland, sondern in ganz Europa nachhaltig verändert. Der Aufstieg der AfD und anderer rechter Parteien wäre ohne die Ängste vor Überfremdung und den Vertrauensverlust in die Demokratie kaum denkbar gewesen.

Heute, ein Jahrzehnt später, ist Deutschland ein zerrissenes Land: Während rechte Stimmen lautstark gegen die ehemalige Kanzlerin pöbeln, kämpfen andere trotz aller Bürokratie für die Integration von Zuwanderern und wieder andere ziehen gleich nach Ungarn, weil ihnen Deutschland nicht mehr deutsch genug ist.
