Tayshaun Prince's *Other* Series-Saving Block Against the Pacers (2004)

June 1, 2004 - Never before has two points meant more than it did during the fourth quarter of this 2004 Eastern Conference Finals Game 6 matchup between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons. Somehow able to erase an early 14-point deficit (which would be like climbing out of a 25-point hole or deeper in 2025), the Pistons were able to tie things up for the first time all night with a shade over five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Then, with the Pacers having gone through a four-minute stretch in which they'd hit just one field goal, Al Harrington found himself on the doorstep of a rare dunk attempt opportunity. His potential flush would have put the Pacers firmly in the driver's seat of a game in which neither team would reach the 70-point plateau. But then Tayshaun Prince happened.

Already with one historic block to his name—a last-gasp chasedown of Reggie Miller's layup to secure a win in Game 2—Prince met Harrington at the rim for a squeaky clean dunk denial. The rejection ultimately led to a four-point trip for the Pistons moments later, placing Detroit firmly in the driver's seat and ultimately clinching the team's first conference championship since 1990.
