This is the first boss fight of the game, and roughly a little under an hour into the game, so there's no major spoilers here. There's almost no ability or combat unlocks, so it's fairly limited with what you're able to do for now.

At the point of posting this I've played through nearly the entire game and I am currently on the final boss. I don't think it's as bad as people are making out (or are expecting), but at the same time I wouldn't say it's amazing either. It's still a solid game and I think most people will have a decent enough time with it.

For me I'm nearly always combat focused, and in this the combat feels very button-mashy overall. There's not too many boss fights, and they aren't the most engaging or interesting fights. It probably doesn't help that the fights (like this one) all have very long cutscene sequences between the phases, and wanting to go for no damage clears without having weird cuts mid-fight it can make them drag out. The worst enemy though is the camera angles that can happen, it gets either entirely obstructed or just really weird angles.

There's a lot of story and cutscenes overall, outweighing the combat quite heavily. There are some cool sequences though that I think people will enjoy. Otherwise, as somebody who's never really been interested in the X-Men stories, I wasn't hugely invested in it either, outside of a few moments towards the end.

Overall it was still an enjoyable experience. It's not quite my preferred style of game, as it's more about the story and less about the combat, which I prefer the opposite. But at the same time I think it was better than what people led me to believe.

My plans for coverage of this will be fairly limited. There's only a handful of bosses so I don't know if I'll post them individually, as some are in heavy spoiler territory no matter how I label them. Perhaps I'll stick to the single compilation with all bosses no damage after this one later today. It won't be until several hours after release though, as I'll be waiting until a time where people could naturally reach those points, and I won't include major spoilers either.

Thanks to PlayStation for providing me with a copy of the game. I was planning to check this out regardless, but a big thanks to them for providing me with a code for the game. Receive SMS online on sms24.me
