Gleichzeitig übt Hillje scharfe Kritik am Umgang von Medien und etablierten Parteien mit dieser Strategie. Wer nur noch auf provokante Soundbites reagiert oder den eigenen Wahlkampf rein darauf ausrichtet, die AfD zu verhindern, spielt dem System der Rechtspopulisten ungewollt in die Karten. Um dem Phänomen wirksam etwas entgegenzusetzen, reicht eine bloße Abwehrhaltung nicht aus. Die etablierten Parteien müssen den Mut aufbringen, wieder eigene, attraktive Zukunfts- und Hoffnungsbilder zu zeichnen, die den Wählern echte Perspektiven und Gestaltungswillen aufzeigen.
