Tras aplastar a los Takeda, Oda Nobunaga se erigió en el daimyō dominante del Japón central, el temido “Rey Demonio” que abrazaba las armas de fuego y quemaba templos para forzar la modernización. Su opuesto ideológico, Uesugi Kenshin, el piadoso “Dragón de Echigo”, lo enfrentó en Tedorigawa, donde usó el terreno elevado y húmedo para atenuar los mosquetes y desbandar a las fuerzas de Oda.
