Saat ditanya lebih lanjut apakah ia dan Mahfud akan membahas soal Pilkada 2024, Jusuf menampiknya. "Soal utang," tuturnya.
Sebelumnya, pada Desember 2023, Mahfud MD yang saat itu masih menjabat sebagai Menko Polhukam mengaku siap membantu Jusuf Hamka untuk menagih utang perusahaannya ke pemerintah, dalam hal ini Kementerian Keuangan (Kemenkeu).
Jusuf Hamka dinilai berhak untuk meminta pembayaran utang kepada pemerintah karena sudah ada putusan pengadilan yang inkrah, di mana pemerintah diwajibkan untuk membayarkan deposito beserta denda kepada PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP).
Adapun dalam dokumen kesepakatan antara pemerintah dan CMNP yang ditandatangani pada 2016 disebutkan, pemerintah sepakat untuk membayarkan Rp 179,5 miliar ke CMNP.
Pembayaran itu seharusnya dilakukan pada semester pertama 2016 dan semester pertama 2017. Namun, Jusuf Hamka bilang, pembayaran tersebut tak kunjung dilakukan.
