Hockenheim: Am frühen Mittwochmorgen kam es in der Hirschstraße in Hockenheim zu einem Brand in einem Wohn- und Geschäftshaus. Gegen 4:15 Uhr wurde die Feuerwehr alarmiert, nachdem mehrere Bewohner den Brand bemerkt und den Notruf gewählt hatten. Beim Eintreffen der Einsatzkräfte war es in einem Rauchercafé im Erdgeschoss bereits zu einem ausgedehnten Brand gekommen. Aufgrund der starken Rauchentwicklung mussten die darüberliegenden Wohnungen geräumt und die Bewohner ins Freie gebracht werden. Das Feuer konnte schnell gelöscht werden, das Rauchercafé wurde jedoch vollständig zerstört. Weitere Geschäfte im Erdgeschoss wurden geöffnet und kontrolliert, da sich der Rauch im Gebäude weit ausgebreitet hatte. Nach rund einer Stunde konnten die Bewohner in ihre Wohnungen zurückkehren.Verletzt wurde glücklicherweise niemand. Der Sachschaden wird auf 150.000 geschätzt.
