Explosions over Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem as Iran launches new wave of attacks
Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks against Israel in the early hours of Monday morning, with strikes reportedly hitting energy infrastructure in Haifa and triggering fires, while air defence systems engaged incoming missiles over Tel Aviv. Explosions were also reported over Jerusalem, according to Reuters.The attacks follow reports that US President Donald Trump blocked an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, citing anonymous American officials quoted by Reuters and the Associated Press. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has allegedly urged the US to join military action against Iran, while The Wall Street Journal reports that Israeli officials still consider Khamenei a "legitimate target". Netanyahu refused to comment on these claims when pressed on Sunday.
