El país caribeño, ubicado justo al sur de Florida, no ha recibido ningún cargamento de petróleo en tres meses, lo que agrava una crisis humanitaria provocada por las severas sanciones impuestas por Estados Unidos durante décadas. “En este momento, las sanciones están literalmente matando a la gente”, dice el periodista cubano Daniel Montero, quien se comunica con Democracy Now! desde La Habana. “Entendemos cuál es la intención de este embargo del petróleo y cuál ha sido siempre la intención de las sanciones. [Están intentando provocar] un cambio de régimen a través del hambre”.
