Menurutnya, menghentikan pengayaan uranium secara penuh bertentangan dengan kepentingan nasional Iran.
Dalam pidato yang disiarkan televisi pemerintah pada Rabu (4/6/2025), Khamenei mengaku heran dengan AS yang terus menerus mengatur negara lain.
Ia menyinggung ucapan pejabat Washington yang menuntut Iran agar tidak punya program nuklir.
Padahal, Iran sedang fokus pada pengayaan uranium yang menjadi kunci program tersebut.
"Para pemimpin Amerika yang kasar dan arogan berulang kali menuntut agar kami tidak memiliki program nuklir. Siapa Anda yang memutuskan apakah Iran harus memiliki pengayaan?" ujar Khamenei, dikutip dari Al Arabiya, Kamis (5/6/2025).
Khamenei sadar bahwa musuh tidak suka jika Iran punya program nuklir.
Namun, ia menegaskan tidak akan menuruti permintaan AS karena bagi Iran pengayaan uranium penting bagi negara.
Saat ini, perundingan nuklir antara kedua negara tersebut sudah melewati putaran kelima.
Hanya saja, sejumlah masalah yang sulit dijembatani tetap ada, termasuk desakan Iran untuk mempertahankan pengayaan uranium di wilayahnya.
Teheran berulang kali mengatakan ingin menguasai teknologi nuklir untuk tujuan damai, bukan peperangan.
Ini sekaligus membantah tuduhan Barat bahwa Iran berusaha mengembangkan senjata nuklir.
Di sisi lain, keputusan akhir tentang seluruh masalah negara tetap berada di tangan Khamenei.
