Warga Tepi Barat Berterima Kasih Inggris Akui Negara Palestina | SAPA PAGI
LONDON, KOMPAS.TV - Inggris akhirnya mengakui negara Palestina. Langkah bersejarah ini dinyatakan Perdana Menteri Inggris, Keir Starmer, meski ditentang Amerika Serikat dan Israel.Pengakuan Inggris terhadap negara Palestina adalah bagian dari proses untuk mengakhiri konflik di Gaza dan membantu mendorong perdamaian antara Israel dan Palestina.
Inggris kini mengikuti langkah lebih dari 150 negara yang sudah mengakui Palestina.
Pengumuman ini sangat dinantikan setelah Starmer mengatakan pada bulan Juli bahwa Inggris akan mengakui negara Palestina, kecuali Israel menyetujui gencatan senjata di Gaza yang akan mengizinkan masuk bantuan PBB dan langkah lanjutan menuju perdamaian.
Warga Palestina di Tepi Barat yang diduduki Israel menyambut baik keputusan Inggris yang secara resmi mengakui negara Palestina.
Australia dan Kanada juga secara resmi mengakui negara Palestina, yang memicu kemarahan Israel.
Inisiatif terkoordinasi dari tiga negara persemakmuran dan sekutu lama Israel ini mencerminkan kemarahan yang semakin besar atas tindakan Israel dalam perang di Gaza.
Apalagi Israel terus memperluas serangan yang menimbulkan banyak korban jiwa warga Gaza.
Lebih dari 140 negara telah mengakui negara Palestina, dan negara-negara lain diperkirakan akan menyusul di Majelis Umum PBB.
