KOMPAS.TV - Selain gaji pokok, anggota DPR mendapat berbagai fasilitas dan tunjangan, termasuk tunjangan rumah DPR Rp50 juta per bulan ini. Besarnya fasilitas dan nilai tunjangan yang diterima anggota dewan memicu polemik.Nilai fantastis tunjangan yang diterima anggota DPR memicu aksi protes di beberapa kota. Di Jakarta, elemen masyarakat menggelar unjuk rasa 25 Agustus lalu. Mereka mengkritisi kinerja anggota dewan yang dianggap tak sebanding dengan fasilitas yang diterima.
Sementara itu, pegiat demokrasi yang juga Ketua PBHI, Julius Ibrani, menilai polemik tunjangan rumah DPR terjadi karena kebijakan diambil tanpa memperhatikan rasa keadilan dan kepatutan.
Kepada anggota DPR suara rakyat dititipkan. Sudah sepatutnya setiap kebijakan yang diambil di parlemen harus berpihak kepada rakyat, dan bukan malah mencederai perasaan rakyat.
