TRIP REPORT | Will We Make It Into Delhi? | Air India A320Neo | Mumbai to Delhi
Air India Trip Report flying from Mumbai to Delhi onboard one of the Air India new Airbus A320Neo on a lovely spring morning.A comfortable flight from Mumbai to Delhi onboard one of the Air India Airbus A320Neo. The flight was fully booked, but still, the onboard service made the difference to be able to call this one a very nice flight.
Mumbai airport is one of the most beautiful airports in the world. All the terminal building in general, but the landside in particular. The super high ceilings, the columns, the illumination... everything together makes the airport a destination itself. So, after a long exploration of Mumbai airport and some planespotting, we finally boarded the A320Neo that would take us to Delhi.
We took off from Mumbai, almost on time, towards the sea. After a brief view of the city (covered by some smog), we made a right turn to start our route to Delhi. It was a day with a lot of haze over India, typical when there is a high-pressure system over India, which was the case.
Luckily, we were still able to see some nice landmarks and cities during our journey to Delhi. It wasn't until we were 200km to the south of Delhi that the captain told us that Delhi airport was completely under thick fog and we had to wait on a holding pattern for the weather to improve. The initial estimate was 20 minutes. We ended up there for almost 2 hours!
Finally, the captain informed us that the fog was getting less dense and the visibility was improving, so we set course to Delhi and landed in the fog around 90 minutes later than scheduled.
We will talk a little about foggy conditions at airports, the consequences it has on the normal traffic flow, as well as some details about the autolands and what the visibility limits are for these to be performed, and many other related things! Hope you'll find it interesting!
About the onboard service, there were 2 options: veg or non-veg. I first chose the non-veg and, once the service was finished, asked to try a spare veg meal. Both were very good, but I would choose the veg one in this case. I missed some orange juice (or any juice in general). Only water and coffee were offered.
Now it's your turn!
Have you ever flown with Air India? Which route? How was the experience? Have you ever flown on the Airbus A320Neo? What do you think about the Air India service? Have you ever been to Mumbai? Maybe in Delhi?
Lots of things to talk about! See you all in the comments!
