Il direttore d'orchestra israeliano Ilan Volkov ha interrotto la musica ai BBC Proms, alla Royal Albert Hall di Londra, per fare un appello contro la guerra in Medioriente e contro il massacro del popolo della Striscia di Gaza.
«Migliaia di palestinesi innocenti sono stati uccisi. Sfollati ancora e ancora, senza ospedali, senza scuole, senza conoscere quando sarà il prossimo pasto» ha detto il 49enne di Tel Aviv. «Gli ostaggi israeliani sono tenuti in condizioni inumane da due anni e gli oppositori politici stanno marcendo nelle prigioni israeliane. Israeliani, ebrei e palestinesi non siamo capaci di fermare questo da soli. Vi chiedo, vi imploro tutti di fare qualsiasi cosa sia in vostro potere per fermare questa follia. Ogni piccola azione conta mentre i governi esitano e aspettano».
