18 Eylül 2026 Cuma günü, İstanbul Havalimanı’nın 4’üncü ana pisti, Cumhurbaşkanı Erdoğan ile Ulaştırma ve Altyapı Bakanı Abdulkadir Uraloğlu’nun katıldığı törenle resmen hizmete açıldı.2 bin 820 metre uzunluğunda, 45 metre genişliğindeki yeni beton pist artık İstanbul Havalimanı’nın bir parçası. İstanbul Havalimanı’nın 4 ana ve 2 yedek olmak üzere toplam 6 pisti var.
İstanbul Havalimanı’nda açılan yeni pistin en önemli özelliği, açılan kaçıncı pist olduğu veya uzunluğu değil! Yönü.
İstanbul Havalimanı’nın bugüne kadarki 3 ana ve 2 yedek pisti kuzey-güney doğrultusunda uzanıyordu. Yeni açılan pist ise doğu-batı ekseninde. Yani İstanbul Havalimanı’na sadece yeni bir pist yapılmadı. Havalimanına yeni bir yön eklendi. Peki bu ne anlama geliyor?
