Hal itu buntut dirinya tak masuk kantor Pemerintah Daerah (Pemda) atau tak berada di rumah jabatan, selama kurang lebih satu bulan.
Akibat ketidakhadirannya tersebut, Ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) Buton, Muhammad Muji menggeruduk kantor Pemda untuk mencari keberadaan Alvin.
Akan tetapi aksi demo tersebut justru dihalangi oleh petugas Satpol PP.
Bentrok pun terjadi dalam aksi demonstrasi tersebut.
Setelah merasa tak terima dengan respons Satpol PP, aksi massa kemudian beralih ke Mapolres Buton.
Mereka kemudian melaporkan Alvin Akawijaya sebagai "orang hilang".
Dalam laporan tertulis, mereka mengatasnamakan rakyat dan juga mahasiswa Buton.
Meski tak hadir di kantornya selama kurang lebih sebulan, Bupati Alvin disebut-sebut aktif memposting kegiatan dinasnya saat di Jakarta melalui akun Facebook.
Dalam beberapa waktu terakhir, ia melakukan koordinasi dengan Direktorat Jenderal Otonomi Daerah Kemendagri, audiensi dengan Dirjen Bina Marga Kementrian PUPR, hingga ikut Forum Jaringan Pemerintah Daerah (PNLG) PEMSEA 2025.
Sementara itu pada Jumat (19/9), ia mengikuti rapat bersama dengan para pemilik usaha aspal Buton untuk membahas keresahan masyarakat soal pengangkutan aspal.
Terbaru, Bupati Buton dilaporkan menghadiri peringatan Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW bersama masyarakat Kelurahan Kambulambulana pada Minggu (21/9).
Adapun Alvin sendiri merupakan anak dari mantan Gubernur Sultra, Ali Mazi.
Pemuda kelahiran 18 Mei 1996 itu dilantik sebagai Bupati Buton periode 2025-2030 yang berlangsung pada Kamis (20/2).
Pelantikan Alvin Akawijaya Putra bersama Wakil Bupatinya, Syafarudin Saafa dilakukan oleh Presiden Prabowo Subianto di Jakarta.
