El campo COSMOS, o Campo Profundo del Sondeo de la Evolución Cósmica , es una de las regiones más famosas del Universo observadas por los astrónomos. Ubicada en la constelación de Sextans, esta región fue fotografiada por el Telescopio Espacial Hubble (HST) en segmentos entre 2003 y 2005 utilizando su Cámara Avanzada para Sondeos (ACS). Con el apoyo de telescopios terrestres y otros telescopios espaciales, las imágenes resultantes se unieron para crear una impresionante imagen de la evolución cósmica.El Observatorio Vera Rubin ha capturado una imagen impresionante del campo Cosmos, revelando más de medio millón de galaxias.
Esta nueva captura del Observatorio Vera Rubin es el resultado de décadas de trabajo astronómico y demuestra la capacidad técnica para mapear el cielo con un detalle sin precedentes. La imagen nos permite observar la inmensidad del universo y la distribución de estructuras masivas en el cosmos, ofreciendo una perspectiva única sobre la escala de nuestro entorno galáctico.
