La sindaca di Genova, Silvia Salis, ha annunciato che a partire dall'edizione 2026 della Regata delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinarie gli equipaggi femminili riceveranno lo stesso compenso di quelli maschili, ponendo fine a una disparità salariale emersa negli ultimi anni.La decisione è scattata dopo un'attenta verifica dei bilanci dell'evento. "Mettendo mano ai documenti – ha spiegato Salis – abbiamo scoperto che per l'edizione 2025 il budget per il galeone maschile, composto da otto atleti e un timoniere, era di 27 mila euro: 3 mila euro a testa. Mentre per il galeone femminile, sempre con otto atlete e una timoniera, era di soli 9 mila euro: mille euro ciascuna. Stessa situazione nel 2024. Nel 2023, peggio ancora: 2 mila euro a testa più mille di premio per i maschi, contro 200 euro più 500 di premio per le femmine".Ex lanciatrice olimpica e da sempre impegnata contro il gender gap nello sport, Salis ha già informato i colleghi sindaci di Amalfi, Pisa e Venezia con una lettera ufficiale. «Ho dedicato la mia vita allo sport e al superamento di ogni forma di disparità salariale nelle competizioni e nelle dirigenze sportive – ha sottolineato –. Supportati dagli uffici comunali, equipararemo i compensi per le atlete del galeone femminile a quelli maschili già dal 2026».La regata, che vede sfidarsi le gloriose repubbliche marinare in un colpo di remi carico di storia, potrà così celebrare un'edizione all'insegna della parità, in linea con le battaglie globali per l'equità nello sport.
