Одна из самых молодых пустынь в мире готовится к сезону, который может стать самым сильным сезоном пыльных бурь за всю её историю. Пустыня Аралкум, возникшая после исчезновения Аральского моря, летом 2026 года может породить до 10–12 крупных токсичных пыльных бурь, что вызывает тревогу во всей Центральной Азии и за её пределами. В отличие от обычных пустынь, Аралкум появился из-за деятельности человека: на месте бывшего огромного озера обнажилось дно, десятилетиями загрязнявшееся пестицидами, промышленными отходами и другими токсичными остатками. Учёные предупреждают: мощные бури способны переносить эту опасную пыль на сотни и даже тысячи километров — вплоть до гор Тянь-Шаня, где тёмные частицы оседают на ледниках и ускоряют таяние важнейшего источника воды, от которого зависят около 70 миллионов человек. В этом выпуске мы разберём, как одна из крупнейших экологических катастроф в истории человечества создала самую новую пустыню на Земле, почему её токсичные бури становятся всё опаснее и что может ждать этот регион в будущем.
