Doug Ford’s Ontario Is All Stunts, No Results
In the latest episode of Not ‘Sorry’ with host Alexander Brown, Director of the National Citizens Coalition, Brown is joined by Matt Spoke, co-founder of Project Ontario, to discuss Ford’s latest gaffes, including supporting Olivia Chow’s additional tax on the sale of primary residences in Toronto, putting his foot in his mouth at a recent trade press conference with Mark Carney, and arguing with Governor Ron DeSantis through the media. For all the valid criticisms of U.S. trade negotiation bully-ball, Canada has very little to be proud of here. We’re not leading with our best foot forward. We’re not utilizing our smartest minds. We’re not protecting our workers. This Liberal and Liberal-lite status quo continues to fail, nowhere more so than in Ontario.
Spoke criticizes Ford and Canada’s politicians for advocating on rampant anti-Semitic hatred in our streets, and also breaks down Ontario’s failing housing model, sounding a dire warning of hard years to come as red-tape and NIMBYism continue to strangle the province. Education and healthcare reform also haven’t been adequate, to go along with the province’s clear and obvious failures on immigration, as the Ford government rubber-stamped an army of dodgy ‘diploma mills’ during the Covid years, and cannot solely blame the feds for their profiting off of mass immigration, to the detriment of the province and its workforce.
Premier Ford’s continued stunts may make for cheap political victories, but Ontario’s broader unproductivity problems remain. It’s time for meaningful results, and to leave behind the empty gestures and the growthless economy of the Trudeau years.
