Egipto acogerá el lunes nuevas conversaciones entre Israel y Hamás para discutir el intercambio de rehenes y prisioneros dentro del marco de la propuesta de alto el fuego impulsada por Estados Unidos.El primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, declaró que espera recuperar a todos los rehenes en los próximos días. La propuesta estadounidense incluye una tregua a cambio de rehenes, y de forma muy general, una retirada gradual israelí y supervisión internacional en la reconstrucción de la Franja de Gaza. Hamás ha aceptado el plan, aunque exige una mayor concreción y garantías en los términos del acuerdo. Washington ha enviado una delegación a Egipto para avanzar en los detalles.
