US President Donald Trump has announced a trade deal with the European Union following his meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland. The deal puts an end to the standoff between the two allies that had threatened a trade war. The EU chief hailed the agreement as a huge deal and stated that it sets US tariffs on goods from Europe at 15%. Earlier, the EU had faced the looming threat of a 30% levy on its exports to the US, starting on August 1. Meanwhile, Trump added that the EU has promised to buy $750 billion worth of energy from the US and invest an additional $600 billion in American projects. The EU chief mentioned that these investments will be made over three years.
