Berdasarkan pemantauan awal di lapangan, tidak ditemukan indikasi masalah besar dalam operasional tambang.
Namun, keputusan akhir mengenai kelanjutan izin operasional PT Gag Nikel masih menunggu hasil evaluasi menyeluruh yang saat ini dilakukan oleh Kementerian ESDM.
Direktur Jenderal Mineral dan Batubara (Minerba) Tri Winarno menjelaskan bahwa dari total luas lahan 263 hektare yang digunakan untuk aktivitas pertambangan:
Sebanyak 131 hektare telah direklamasi, dan 59 hektare di antaranya telah lulus penilaian sebagai reklamasi yang berhasil.
Pengamatan dari udara juga tidak menunjukkan adanya sedimentasi di wilayah pesisir, yang kerap menjadi indikator dampak negatif pertambangan terhadap lingkungan.
Meski demikian, Tri menekankan bahwa seluruh informasi tersebut masih bersifat sementara.
Tim inspektur tambang masih melakukan pengecekan menyeluruh dan akan menyusun laporan akhir untuk bahan evaluasi.
Keputusan final akan ditentukan langsung oleh Menteri ESDM setelah seluruh proses evaluasi rampung.
