En respuesta a una pregunta sobre las afirmaciones de Japón acerca de un encuentro "inusualmente cercano" entre aviones militares chinos y japoneses, el Ministerio de Defensa de China afirmó que la vigilancia de los aviones militares japoneses en el mar Oriental de China es legítima y está justificada.El Ministerio señala que los aviones de reconocimiento japoneses han entrado en repetidas ocasiones en la Zona de Identificación de Defensa Aérea del mar Oriental de China para llevar a cabo labores de vigilancia. China verificó, identificó, rastreó y monitoreó dichos aviones. El portavoz del Ministerio de Defensa, Jiangbin, reiteró que estas acciones son legítimas y conformes a la normativa.
