Nach dem ergebnislosen Spitzengespräch in Washington herrscht in Grönland eine Mischung aus Enttäuschung und vorsichtiger Erleichterung. Während die angekündigten Arbeitsgruppen als Signal für einen diplomatischen Kurs gewertet werden, wächst zugleich die Sorge vor einer Eskalation. Die Entsendung europäischer NATO-Erkundungstrupps – darunter auch Bundeswehrsoldaten – wird von der grönländischen Bevölkerung mit Skepsis, aber auch mit einem gewissen Maß an Dankbarkeit aufgenommen. Militärische Präsenz widerspricht der grönländischen Mentalität, doch das Gefühl, nicht allein zu sein, stärkt die Hoffnung auf internationale Unterstützung in einer unsicheren Lage.
