US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says the trade relationship is “one-way,” with India selling to the US but refusing to open its market. But India has three reasons for not importing US corn. First, it produces nearly as much as it consumes — about 42 million tonnes. Second, its limited imports come from Myanmar and Ukraine, suppliers of non-GM corn. Third, nearly all American corn is genetically modified, which India bans for food use. Talks may resume, but differences remain sharp.---
