«Il messaggio che deve passare è che nulla resterà impunito e chi rompe paga», afferma Matteo Salvini al termine del Comitato per l'ordine pubblico e la sicurezza convocato in Prefettura a Milano dopo gli scontri del fine settimana. Il vicepremier annuncia l'arrivo di 500 paracadutisti a supporto dei controlli e assicura che sabato, in vista di una nuova possibile mobilitazione, «non ci sarà il coprifuoco», aggiungendo però che «non ci sarà più nessun tipo di tolleranza per chi devasta, per chi saccheggia». Salvini respinge inoltre la lettura dei disordini come espressione di disagio sociale: «Questi sono arrivati a Milano per rubare e devastare senza nessun tipo di ideale alle spalle» e sostiene che, quando a provocare danni sono minorenni, «la multa e il risarcimento danni sono a carico dei genitori». Quanto a possibili regie esterne, conclude: «Non penso a regie esterne, regie occulte o guerre ibride», mentre sulle chat che diffondono notizie false riferisce che sta lavorando la polizia postale.
