Namun, pembatalan mendadak itu memunculkan spekulasi publik.
Tentang adanya hambatan politik di balik upaya perdamaian regional yang tengah berlangsung.
Sebelumnya, undangan untuk Netanyahu dikabarkan muncul secara mendadak saat Presiden AS Donald Trump melakukan kunjungan ke Israel.
Diketahui, undangan tersebut diatur saat keduanya tengah dalam perjalanan dari Bandara Ben Gurion menuju Knesset.
Trump disebut menyarankan agar Netanyahu hadir dalam konferensi tersebut, dan Netanyahu sempat menyetujui ajakan tersebut.
Namun, tak lama kemudian, kantor Netanyahu mengumumkan pembatalan kehadiran sang perdana menteri.
Melalui pernyataannya, pihak Netanyahu menyebut bahwa dirinya tidak dapat hadir.
Karena waktu pelaksanaan KTT bertepatan dengan awal perayaan hari raya Yahudi, Simchat Torah.
Netanyahu disebut telah menyampaikan terima kasih kepada Presiden Trump atas undangan dan upaya diplomatiknya.
Namun menegaskan bahwa dirinya memilih untuk menghormati tradisi keagamaan yang sedang berlangsung di Israel.
