Menurut Tamliha, PPP membutuhkan figur baru agar bisa bangkit dan kembali mendapat kepercayaan publik, setelah PPP gagal melenggang ke Senayan pada Pemilu 2024.
“Minta maaf, Pak Mardiono menurut saya sudah gagal membawa PPP ke Senayan. Mesti ada pembaruan,” ujar Tamliha saat wawancara eksklusif dengan Tribunnews.com di kantor redaksi di Jakarta pada Selasa (22/9/2025).
Tamliha menilai Mardiono bertanggung jawab atas kegagalan PPP menembus ambang batas parlemen (parliamentary threshold) sebesar 4 persen.
Ia menegaskan, jika Mardiono kembali terpilih memimpin PPP lewat muktamar akhir September nanti, risikonya fatal.
“Kalau tetap Pak Mardiono jadi ketua umum, akan banyak kader yang pindah partai, terutama di lumbung-lumbung suara PPP,” tegas Tamliha.
Ia menambahkan, sejarah membuktikan partai yang sudah terlempar dari parlemen akan sulit bangkit dan bisa kembali ke Senayan.
Tamliha menyebut Partai Bulan Bintang (PBB) dan Hanura sebagai contoh.
"Yang kita hadapi ini adalah pemilih milenial. Perlu adanya ketua umum yang bersih. Yang memahami aspirasi umat Islam dan betul-betul berjuang, beribadah untuk partai. Bukan mencari yang lain. Misalnya, mau jadi cawe-cawe memungut calon Pilkada, atau motif lain," ujarnya.
Tamliha menutup dengan pesan bahwa muktamar kali ini harus menjadi momentum koreksi diri. Jika salah memilih, PPP berisiko kehilangan arah dan ditinggalkan kader.
