Pernyataan ini dirilis menjelang Sidang Umum PBB yang akan digelar September mendatang, dan menyerukan pengakuan terhadap Negara Palestina.
Negara-negara penandatangan, antara lain Prancis, Kanada, Irlandia, Norwegia, Portugal, dan Spanyol, menyatakan kesiapan untuk mengakui Palestina sebagai negara merdeka.
Mereka juga mengecam serangan 7 Oktober 2023 dan menuntut gencatan senjata serta pembebasan seluruh sandera Hamas tanpa syarat.
Pernyataan tersebut menyambut baik komitmen Presiden Otoritas Palestina yang menyerukan reformasi, pemilu dalam satu tahun, dan pelucutan senjata kelompok Hamas.
Para menteri luar negeri yang tergabung dalam pernyataan ini juga menekankan pentingnya menyatukan Jalur Gaza dan Tepi Barat di bawah Otoritas Palestina.
Ditekankan pula perlunya akses kemanusiaan yang tidak terhambat serta peran penting lembaga-lembaga PBB dalam mendistribusikan bantuan ke Gaza.
Negara-negara itu meminta negara lain untuk turut mendukung pengakuan Palestina sebagai langkah konkret menuju perdamaian abadi.
Langkah ini kemudian dikecam keras oleh Israel dan sekutunya, termasuk Amerika Serikat.
