Langkah ini sekaligus membatalkan kontrak senilai 285 juta dolar untuk pembelian 168 sistem drone anti-tank dari Israel.
Kontrak tersebut sebelumnya disetujui pada 3 Oktober 2023, hanya beberapa hari sebelum meletusnya perang di Gaza.
Dikutip dari Palestine Chronicle, Rabu (4/6/2025), penangguhan ini merupakan bagian dari kebijakan Spanyol untuk menghentikan ketergantungan teknologi militer dari Israel.
Sikap Spanyol ini diklaim sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap rakyat Palestina.
Sementara itu, pemerintah Spanyol tengah menyusun rencana pemisahan teknologi dan keamanan dari Israel.
Bahkan kontrak dengan Pap Tecnos, anak perusahaan Rafael di Spanyol, juga turut dicabut.
Sebagai gantinya, pemerintah Spanyol tengah mempertimbangkan sistem alternatif senjata buatan Amerika Serikat.
Lantas, langkah ini mencerminkan sikap tegas Spanyol dalam menanggapi konflik kemanusiaan di Gaza.
