Eric Swalwell calls out Katie Porter: "Can't get flustered"
Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) held a press conference to talk about the impacts of the ongoing federal government shutdown.During the news conference, a reporter asked Swalwell about Democratic California Governor candidate Katie Porter.
"To what I saw with Katie Porter, when you're taking on a fascist, you can't get flustered," Swalwell said. "If we're looking at who's going to replace Gavin Newsom, we need a fighter and a protector, not someone who gets flustered."
Meanwhile, Porter admitted she "could have handled things better" following the emergence of viral videos capturing her outbursts against a reporter and a staffer.
In one of the videos, Porter became agitated with a reporter and nearly cut an interview short. In an older video that Politico reported is from 2021, the politician snapped at a staffer to "Get out of my f---ing shot!" after the person entered the video frame behind Porter.
Swalwell also addressed the impacts of the shutdown, specifically speaking on the affect its having on the IRS. Oct. 15th is the extension deadline for the IRS.
