From a small city in South India, Venkatesh has spent 27 years turning curiosity into companies. Inspired by his grandfather who built a textile empire at 60, he chose a different path, founding an IT company when the internet was still a novelty, then building and exiting ventures like Galatta and Magzter. But his real subject is the mindset behind it all. Drawing on a life that spans 100+ countries, Rotary service, and a decade of angel investing, he argues that change-makers aren't defined by big ideas but by a sharper eye: the ability to see the pain point everyone else overlooks, and the courage to build before the world catches up. He is based in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He founded Dot Com Infoway in 1999, building a digital services company that today with customers across 40+ countries, and co-founded Magzter, the global digital newsstand. He currently leads Simbli.ai, osmAPI, and 916 Studio, an AI-native vertical entertainment venture producing socially conscious micro-dramas.He serves as Director at the Tamil Nadu AI Association and Chair of the Tamil Nadu Chapter at ICMEG, championing the state’s AI ecosystem and Madurai’s rise as a technology hub. A Rotarian who has traveled to over 100 countries, he brings a global lens to his writing, speaking, and civic work.
His career spans AI filmmaking, product innovation, and ecosystem building, united by one conviction: that frontier technology and world-class opportunity belong in tier-2 India, not just the metros.
