At 47, he lost almost everything.

## THE STORY
After World War II, Ando saw hungry people waiting in a long line for ramen in Osaka.
One question stayed with him:
Could ramen be cheap, tasty, easy to store and ready with only hot water?
Years later, at 47, his financial life collapsed. Instead of declaring his best years over, Ando became a beginner again.
He built a tiny shed behind his home and experimented for almost a year. Batch after batch failed.
Then, watching tempura being fried, he noticed something: frying created tiny pores that allowed water to escape.
What if the same idea worked with noodles?
That observation became his breakthrough.
At 48, Chicken Ramen was born.
Years later in America, Ando watched people put his noodles into paper cups and eat them with forks.
Instead of thinking they were using his product incorrectly, he asked:
"What if the product should change according to their life?"
At 61, Cup Noodles was born.
