Experts suggest that this is the first step towards treating junk food like tobacco. Health advocates say that this would allow citizens to make a conscious choice. The move is aimed at addressing the country’s obesity crisis. Data suggests that one in every five Indians is obese, and by 2050, close to 45 crore Indians are projected to be overweight. With this, India will rank second after the US.
