Ia membantu membawa pasokan medis ke klinik rahasia selama protes atas kematian Mahsa Amini, seorang wanita yang ditahan atas pelanggaran aturan hijab di Iran.
Dilansir dari The Guradian, Jumat (18/7), Babamiri ditangkap pada April 2023 lalu dan ditahan tanpa akses hukum.
Sang putri, Zhino, mengatakan ayahnya hanya ingin menolong sesama warga dan bukan bagian kelompok bersenjata.
Video pengakuan paksa Babamiri sempat ditayangkan oleh media pemerintah.
Kelompok HAM menilai, tuduhan terhadapnya tidak berdasar dan penuh rekayasa.
Sejak vonis dijatuhkan, keluarga Babamiri hidup dalam ketakutan.
Zhino kini menjadi seorang aktivis di Norwegia untuk menyelamatkan ayahnya.
Ia mendirikan kelompok Daughters of Justice untuk menyuarakan keadilan.
Setiap hari ia menunggu kabar, takut akan melihat nama ayahnya masuk dalam daftar eksekusi.
