Las autoridades meteorológicas de China ampliaron las alertas amarillas por tormentas y altas temperaturas. Entre el día 19 y el 20 se esperan lluvias torrenciales en zonas de Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanghai, Guizhou y Guangdong. Se ha pedido a los gobiernos locales que se preparen para las tormentas y comprueben los sistemas de drenaje de las ciudades, las tierras de cultivo y las piscifactorías. Las fuertes tormentas han provocado torrentes en las montañas y corrimientos de tierra, que han causado ocho muertos en la provincia de Fujian y cinco en la de Guangdong.
El presidente Xi Jinping ha instado a realizar todos los esfuerzos posibles para hacer frente a los desastres y minimizar las pérdidas. Las autoridades del gobierno central han destinado 130 millones de yuanes a operaciones de socorro en las zonas afectadas de Fujian y Guangdong.
Entre tanto, las regiones del norte de China, entre ellas Shanxi, Beijing, Hebei, Shandong y Henan, han experimentado temperaturas de hasta 36 grados centígrados.
