Kericuhan pecah saat massa aksi yang tergabung dalam Solidaritas Perjuangan Mahasiswa Majene (SPMM) mengepung Gedung DPRD Majene, Sabtu (30/8/2025).
Situasi semakin tak terkendali ketika massa membakar ban dan melemparkan sejumlah benda ke arah kompleks kantor dewan.
Aparat kepolisian yang berjaga kemudian menembakkan gas air mata untuk membubarkan kerumunan.
Gas air mata membuat ribuan mahasiswa yang semula bertahan di halaman dan jalan sekitar DPRD berhamburan menyelamatkan diri.
Beberapa mahasiswa terlihat mengalami sesak napas dan berusaha mencari air untuk membasuh wajah.
Dalam orasinya sebelum kericuhan, mahasiswa mendesak DPRD Majene dibubarkan karena dinilai gagal memperjuangkan kepentingan rakyat.
Massa aksi, Kadi, menyampaikan bahwa mereka akan tetap bertahan di lokasi hingga tuntutan dikabulkan.
Namun, situasi berubah tegang setelah massa dan aparat terlibat saling dorong.
Hingga pukul 17.30 WITA, kondisi di sekitar Gedung DPRD Majene masih dijaga ketat aparat keamanan, sementara mahasiswa perlahan mulai mencoba menerobos gedung.
