Selain itu, pilot yang mengemudikan pesawat juga tewas dalam insiden tersebut.
Dikutip dari New York Post pada Senin (30/6/2025), korban yakni Letnan Kolonel Maksym Ustimenko (31).
Ia lepas landas pada Minggu (29/6/2025) pagi waktu setempat setelah Rusia menembakkan 477 drone dan 60 rudal ke Kyiv.
Menurut Angkatan Udara Ukraina, Ustimenko berhasil mencegat tujuh target sebelum jetnya diserang.
Namun, ia tak sempat melontarkan diri hingga berakhir tewas.
"Dia meninggal seperti pahlawan. Penerbangan abadi, saudaraku," kata Angkatan Udara Ukraina dalam sebuah pernyataan.
Presiden Zelensky mengaku berduka atas kepergian pilot kebanggaan negara tersebut.
Ini adalah F-16 ketiga yang ditembak jatuh sejak Ukraina menerima pengiriman pesawat tempur tersebut pada Februari 2024.
Satu jet ditembak jatuh bulan lalu, dan satu lagi pada bulan April 2024 saat menangkis serangan udara besar Rusia.
Terkait serangan pada Minggu (29/6/2025), Ukraina menyebutnya sebagai serangan udara terbesar yang dilakukan Rusia.
Moskow mengklaim targetnya adalah fasilitas industri militer Ukraina.
