A Russian drone strike has triggered multiple explosions and a massive fire near Kyiv, killing at least 37 people and injuring several others, according to Ukrainian authorities. The strike targeted a warehouse in a western suburb of Kyiv, sending a huge column of black smoke over the area and forcing evacuations. Kyiv region Governor Tymur Tkachenko said a village mayor was among those killed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack damaged residential buildings and an elder care facility.
Ukrainian prosecutors said the warehouse appeared to have been used to store 'explosive objects'. Zelensky said criminal cases have been opened over alleged official negligence, stressing that ammunition should not be stored near residential areas.
