В 2025 году весь мир обсуждал новость: в Техасе «воскресили» вымерших десять тысяч лет назад ужасных волков и назвали их Ромул, Рем и Кхалиси. Заголовки запестрели словом «воскрешение» — будто научная фантастика наконец стала былью. Но что произошло на самом деле? И почему та же компания обещает, что уже к 2028 году может появиться на свет живой мамонтёнок?

На лекции разберём, как древняя ДНК из вечной мерзлоты и технология CRISPR действительно позволяют редактировать гены живых видов — и почему «воскрешённого» волка сам же главный учёный проекта честно назвал «серым волком с двадцатью правками». Пройдёмся по всему списку «посмертно реанимируемых»: мамонт, тасманийский тигр, дронт-додо, голубая антилопа — что из этого реальная наука, а что красивый маркетинг? И главный вопрос: стоит ли тратить ресурсы на воскрешение вымерших — или разумнее бросить их на спасение тех, кто вымирает прямо сейчас?
