Germany, UK Try To Woo High-Skilled Indians After Trump's H-1B Visa Fee Hike | Spotlight | N18GGermany and the UK's governments are trying to attract high-skilled Indian workers to work in their countries. The race to attract Indian talent followed the Trump administration’s changes in the US H-1B visa programme. In a video message, German Ambassador to India, Dr Philipp Ackermann, invited skilled Indians to work for Europe’s largest economy.
The German ambassador took a dig at the Trump administration over its $100,000 hike in the H-1B visa fee, saying Germany has stable migration policies. Meanwhile, the UK is reportedly looking to reduce visa fees for top global talent. The British government is reportedly also discussing options to scrap visa fees completely for applicants from the world's top five universities or for those who have won prestigious prizes. The change in UK policies came against the backdrop of stricter immigration rules launched by the Keir Starmer government.
