Emely Peguero, una joven de 16 años que tenía cinco meses de embarazo, fue asesinada y su cuerpo fue encontrado dentro de una maleta al costado de una carretera en República Dominicana. El principal sospechoso es su novio, Marlon Martínez, que junto con su madre Marlin Martínez intentaron fabricar una coartada para borrar su presunta participación en este crimen que ha provocado consternación en el país caribeño. Emely Peguero salió a las 8:30 am de su casa, ubicada en la localidad de Cenoví, en la provincia de San Francisco de Macorís, al noreste del país. La acompañó su novio, Marlon Martínez, quien la llevaría a una clínica de obstetricia para recoger los resultados de unos análisis. Las investigaciones apuntan que esa mañana, Marlon asesinó a la joven y luego tiró su cuerpo desde el puente Colón, en Cenoví.
