Bandara tersebut menampung pasukan AS dan koalisinya namun insiden ini tidak menimbulkan korban atau kerusakan.
Insiden ini merupakan serangan kedua yang berhasil digagalkan di area yang sama pada bulan Juli.
Belum ada pihak yang mengaku bertanggung jawab atas serangan tersebut.
Bandara Arbil telah menjadi target serangan drone dan roket dalam beberapa tahun terakhir.
Serangan umumnya ditujukan ke pangkalan koalisi internasional pimpinan AS.
Pada 3 Juli lalu, otoritas juga menembak jatuh drone serupa di lokasi yang sama.
Pemerintah daerah Kurdistan menuding Pasukan Mobilisasi Populer (PMF) sebagai pelaku.
Namun, pemerintah Irak di Baghdad menolak tuduhan itu.
Wilayah ini masih menjadi medan konflik kepentingan proksi di Timur Tengah.
