US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday (August 25) that directs the US Attorney General to prosecute those who desecrate the American flag, including by burning, according to a fact sheet from the White House. The order instructs the attorney general to "vigorously prosecute" people who violate flag desecration laws and pursue litigation to clarify the scope of the First Amendment regarding the issue, the fact sheet said. Trump also signed an order aimed at ending cashless bail policies nationally and signed a separate order targeting Washington, D.C. that instructs police to charge suspects with federal crimes and hold them in federal custody to avoid cashless bail.---
