Agus resmi ditetapkan sebagai ketua umum melalui Muktamar X PPP yang digelar di Mercure Ancol, Jakarta, Minggu (28/9/2025) dini hari.
Ia dipilih secara aklamasi oleh perwakilan DPW dan DPC.
Mengutip dari Tribunnews, sebelumnya, Agus pernah menjabat sebagai Menteri Perdagangan di era Presiden Joko Widodo pada 2019–2020.
Ia juga dikenal sebagai Ketua Umum Ikatan Anggar Seluruh Indonesia (IKASI).
Serta Direktur Utama PT Galangan Manggar Biliton.
Pria kelahiran (23/12/1965) itu menempuh pendidikan di SD Budhaya Jakarta, SMPN 14 Jakarta, SMAN 8 Jakarta, hingga Universitas Nasional.
Ia juga pernah menimba ilmu di sebuah pesantren di Jawa Timur.
Nama Agus makin jadi perhatian setelah Laporan Harta Kekayaan Penyelenggara Negara (LHKPN) mencatat kekayaannya tembus Rp 1,6 triliun.
Harta tersebut terdiri dari tanah dan bangunan bernilai ratusan miliar, surat berharga lebih dari Rp 766 miliar, serta kas dan setara kas Rp 51 miliar.
